These simple crunchy artichoke hearts are golden, crispy, and tender on the inside. Perfect as a snack, appetizer, or side dish, they are quick to prepare, customizable, and loved by everyone.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can or jar of artichoke hearts, drained and patted dry
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko preferred for extra crunch)
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 23 tablespoons olive oil or neutral cooking oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Drain and thoroughly dry the artichoke hearts using paper towels.
  2. Prepare three bowls: one with flour and seasonings (salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika), one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan.
  3. Dredge each artichoke heart in the flour mixture, shake off excess.
  4. Dip the floured artichoke into the beaten eggs, coating evenly.
  5. Roll the egg-coated artichoke in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  6. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
  7. Fry artichokes in a single layer, 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown. Avoid overcrowding.
  8. Transfer fried artichokes to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  9. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For a lighter version, bake at 200°C (400°F) for 15–20 minutes, turning halfway through.

Ensure artichokes are completely dry to maintain crispiness.

Panko breadcrumbs enhance crunch compared to regular breadcrumbs.
