This Quick and Flavorful Bacon Fried Rice is one of my favorite back-pocket meals. It’s fast, filling, and full of rich, savory flavor from crispy turkey bacon, mixed vegetables, and aromatic garlic. Whether I’m using leftover rice or preparing a fresh batch to cool for later, this dish always satisfies. It’s perfect for a busy weeknight, and with just one pan, cleanup is quick and easy too. Customizable, affordable, and family-friendly, this recipe proves that comfort food doesn’t need to be complicated.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups cooked white rice (preferably day-old, chilled)
  • 6 slices turkey bacon, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients by chopping the bacon, dicing the onion, mincing the garlic, and beating the eggs. Have everything within reach before starting.
  2. Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon vegetable oil and cook the chopped turkey bacon for about 4–5 minutes until browned and crisp. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add the garlic and onion to the same pan with the remaining oil. Sauté for 2 minutes until fragrant and softened.
  4. Stir in the frozen vegetables and cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they’re heated through.
  5. Push the veggies to one side of the pan. Pour the beaten eggs into the other side and scramble gently until fully cooked. Mix them together.
  6. Add the cold rice and stir everything together. Break apart clumps and ensure all ingredients are evenly combined.
  7. Drizzle in soy sauce and oyster sauce. Toss to coat the rice evenly. Cook for another 2–3 minutes, allowing the rice to crisp slightly.
  8. Return the bacon to the pan. Add sesame oil, mix again, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Turn off the heat and sprinkle green onions on top. Serve immediately.

Notes

Day-old rice gives the best texture—fresh rice may become too sticky.

Swap vegetables as needed; fresh, chopped vegetables work just as well.

Add grilled chicken ham or a fried egg on top for variation.

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
