This copycat Chick-fil-A mac and cheese is creamy, cheesy, and baked to perfection. Perfect as a side dish or a main course, it combines tender pasta with a rich cheese sauce and a golden baked topping. It’s versatile, family-friendly, and can be customized with turkey bacon, chicken ham, or vegetables.

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk, warmed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Paprika, optional, for seasoning
  • ½ cup extra shredded cheese for topping
  • Optional add-ins: diced turkey bacon, cooked chicken ham, steamed broccoli

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the macaroni until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  4. Add the flour and whisk continuously for 1–2 minutes to form a roux.
  5. Slowly pour in warm milk while whisking to prevent lumps. Cook until thickened.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in cheddar, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
  7. Season with salt, black pepper, and paprika.
  8. Combine the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce, stirring until fully coated.
  9. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and spread evenly.
  10. Sprinkle extra cheese on top.
  11. Bake for 20 minutes or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  12. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

You can customize with turkey bacon, chicken ham, or vegetables.

For a crunchy topping, add breadcrumbs mixed with melted butter before baking.

Ensure pasta is not overcooked before baking to avoid mushy texture.
