This Chocolate Croissant Breakfast Bake is a comforting, indulgent breakfast or brunch dish that combines buttery croissants, rich chocolate, and a creamy custard. It’s versatile, easy to prepare, and perfect for family gatherings or weekend treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 buttery croissants, torn into pieces
  • 1 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate, chopped
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk (or alternative milk)
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Optional toppings: powdered sugar, berries, or nuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Tear croissants into bite-sized pieces and place half in the baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle half of the chocolate evenly over the first layer of croissants.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
  5. Pour half of the custard over the croissants, pressing gently to soak them.
  6. Add the remaining croissants and chocolate, then pour the remaining custard evenly.
  7. Optional: fold in berries, banana slices, or nuts for added flavor.
  8. Let the dish sit for 10–15 minutes to allow croissants to absorb the custard.
  9. Bake for 35–40 minutes until the top is golden brown and the custard is set but slightly jiggly.
  10. Cool for 5–10 minutes before serving. Dust with powdered sugar or add toppings if desired.
