Peppermint swirl fudge is a festive, creamy treat that combines the richness of chocolate with the refreshing flavor of peppermint. Perfect for holidays, gifts, or special occasions, this fudge is easy to make, customizable, and loved by everyone.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 7 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tsp peppermint extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • Red food coloring (optional, for the swirl)
  • Crushed peppermint candies for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang for easy removal. Lightly grease the parchment.
  2. Combine Sugar, Butter, and Milk: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, mix granulated sugar, softened butter, and evaporated milk. Stir constantly until sugar dissolves and the mixture boils gently.
  3. Boil and Stir: Continue stirring for 4–5 minutes, ensuring the mixture doesn’t burn.
  4. Add Chocolate and Condensed Milk: Reduce heat to low. Add semi-sweet chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk. Stir until smooth.
  5. Add Peppermint and Salt: Remove from heat. Stir in peppermint extract and salt thoroughly.
  6. Prepare the Swirl: Divide fudge into two bowls. In one bowl, mix in powdered sugar and a few drops of red food coloring.
  7. Layer the Fudge: Pour plain fudge into the pan. Spoon colored fudge on top in dollops. Use a skewer or knife to create a marbled swirl.
  8. Add Crushed Peppermint: Sprinkle crushed peppermint candies evenly and press lightly.
  9. Set the Fudge: Let cool at room temperature for 2–3 hours or refrigerate for 1 hour until firm.
  10. Cut and Serve: Lift fudge using parchment overhang and cut into squares. Store in an airtight container.

Notes

Use a heavy-bottomed saucepan to prevent burning.

Stir constantly while boiling to achieve smooth texture.

Adjust peppermint extract for desired mint intensity.

Optional toppings include white chocolate drizzle, nuts, or sea salt.
