Mushroom Alfredo Pasta is a creamy, comforting dish that combines tender pasta, sautéed mushrooms, and a rich Parmesan sauce. Optional additions like turkey bacon or chicken ham make it versatile for both vegetarian and protein-packed versions. Quick to prepare, this recipe is perfect for family dinners, casual meals, or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 300g fettuccine or pasta of your choice
  • 250g fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 100g turkey bacon, chopped (optional)
  • 100g chicken ham, diced (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook until al dente. Reserve ½ cup of pasta water and drain the rest. Set aside.
  2. Sauté mushrooms: Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add mushrooms and cook for 5–7 minutes until golden brown, stirring occasionally.
  3. Cook proteins (optional): Add turkey bacon or chicken ham to the skillet. Cook until turkey bacon is crisp and chicken ham lightly browned.
  4. Add garlic: Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Avoid burning.
  5. Make Alfredo sauce: Pour in heavy cream gradually, stirring constantly. Add Parmesan cheese slowly, stirring until smooth. If sauce thickens too much, add reserved pasta water.
  6. Combine pasta and sauce: Add cooked pasta to the skillet. Toss well to coat pasta evenly with sauce. Ensure mushrooms and proteins are evenly distributed.
  7. Season: Gradually add salt and pepper to taste. Stir well.
  8. Garnish and serve: Transfer to serving plates and sprinkle with chopped parsley. Serve immediately.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream.

Add vegetables like spinach or sun-dried tomatoes for extra flavor.

Use freshly grated Parmesan for best taste and texture.
