Ingredients

Scale
  • 400g elbow macaroni or pasta of your choice
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups shredded white cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 100g cooked turkey bacon, chopped
  • 100g cooked chicken ham, diced
  • Optional: breadcrumbs for topping

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Boil a large pot of salted water. Add pasta and cook until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Make the Roux: Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add flour and whisk for 2 minutes until lightly golden and fragrant.
  3. Add Milk Gradually: Slowly pour in milk while whisking continuously. Cook for 5–7 minutes until thickened, stirring frequently.
  4. Season the Sauce: Stir in Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly to ensure even seasoning.
  5. Incorporate Cheese: Reduce heat to medium-low. Gradually add shredded white cheddar, stirring until fully melted and smooth.
  6. Add Protein: Stir in turkey bacon and chicken ham, distributing evenly throughout the sauce.
  7. Combine with Pasta: Add drained pasta to the sauce. Fold gently until each piece is coated with the creamy cheese sauce.
  8. Optional Baking: Transfer to a greased baking dish. Sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 15–20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  9. Serve: Enjoy warm immediately for the creamiest texture.

Notes

Use freshly shredded cheese for the best melting and flavor.

Stir constantly when making the sauce to avoid lumps.

Adjust seasoning to taste before combining with pasta.
