Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 kg chicken wings
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 spring onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Pat wings dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  3. Combine marinade: In a large bowl, mix brown sugar, pineapple juice, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, paprika, and olive oil until smooth.
  4. Marinate wings: Add wings to the bowl and toss until fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes, up to 2 hours for deeper flavor.
  5. Arrange wings: Place wings in a single layer on the baking tray, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
  6. Bake wings for 25–30 minutes, brushing with extra marinade halfway through.
  7. Check doneness: Cut into the thickest wing to ensure juices run clear. Bake an additional 5 minutes if necessary.
  8. Broil for caramelization (optional): Place under the grill for 2–3 minutes until golden and sticky.
  9. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle chopped spring onions on top. Serve hot.

Notes

For a spicier version, add chili flakes or cayenne pepper to the marinade.

Double the sauce if you prefer saucier wings.

Can be paired with rice, roasted vegetables, or a fresh salad.
