Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Optional toppings: chopped peanuts, chocolate drizzle

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 cup flour, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon baking soda. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, mix 1/2 cup melted butter, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, and 1/2 cup brown sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in 2 eggs, one at a time, then add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  5. Stir in 1/2 cup peanut butter until fully combined.
  6. Gradually fold the flour mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  7. Add 1/2 cup milk and 1 cup chocolate chips; fold gently.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes until edges are set but the center remains soft. Test with a toothpick: it should come out with moist crumbs.
  10. Let the cake cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing to allow the gooey center to set slightly.

Notes

Use creamy peanut butter for a smoother texture.

Customize with toppings like chopped peanuts or chocolate drizzle.

Do not overmix the batter; it will make the cake dense.

Serve warm for the best gooey texture, optionally with ice cream.
