These Festive Orange Chocolate Christmas Truffles are a luxurious yet simple holiday treat. Rich chocolate paired with zesty orange makes them smooth, flavorful, and perfect for gifting, party platters, or enjoying with loved ones. With minimal ingredients and easy preparation, they are a go-to festive indulgence.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 250 g dark chocolate (good quality)
  • 120 ml heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon finely grated orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon pure orange extract
  • Cocoa powder, crushed nuts, or sprinkles (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Chop chocolate: Finely chop the dark chocolate and place it in a large, heatproof bowl.
  2. Heat cream and butter: In a small saucepan, warm the heavy cream and butter over medium heat until the cream is steaming and the butter is melted. Avoid boiling.
  3. Combine chocolate and cream: Pour the hot cream mixture over the chopped chocolate. Let it sit for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir ganache: Stir gently from the center outward until smooth and glossy. Mix in orange zest and orange extract.
  5. Chill ganache: Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours until firm.
  6. Shape truffles: Scoop portions of the ganache and roll them between your palms into smooth balls. Chill if ganache softens.
  7. Add coatings: Roll truffles in cocoa powder, crushed nuts, or sprinkles. For a chocolate coating, dip in melted chocolate and let excess drip off. Place on a lined tray.
  8. Final chill: Refrigerate for 30 minutes to firm the coatings before serving.

Notes

Use good-quality chocolate for the best flavor and texture.

Truffles can be flavored with peppermint or cinnamon for variation.

Ensure ganache is firm enough to shape; otherwise, chill longer.

Store in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
