Easy Wonton Mozzarella Sticks are a delicious and quick appetizer featuring crispy wonton wrappers filled with gooey mozzarella cheese. Perfect for parties, snacks, or anytime you crave something cheesy and crunchy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 pieces string mozzarella cheese (cut in half for 24 pieces)
  • 24 square wonton wrappers
  • 1 egg (beaten, for sealing)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Marinara sauce (optional, for dipping)
  • Optional seasonings: dried oregano, garlic powder, Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Cut mozzarella sticks in half, pat dry to remove moisture.
  2. Lay one wonton wrapper on a flat surface, place one mozzarella piece in the center.
  3. Optional: Sprinkle herbs or seasoning on the cheese.
  4. Brush edges of the wrapper with beaten egg.
  5. Fold the wrapper over the cheese, fold in sides, then roll tightly to seal completely. Press edges firmly.
  6. Repeat until all sticks are wrapped.
  7. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Fry wrapped sticks in batches, seam-side down, for 30–45 seconds per side until golden and crispy.
  9. Remove with a slotted spoon, drain on paper towels.
  10. Serve immediately with marinara or preferred dip.

Notes

Ensure edges are sealed tightly to prevent cheese leakage.

Do not overcrowd the frying pan to maintain oil temperature.

For a lighter option, bake at 400°F (200°C) for 10–12 minutes instead of frying.

Sticks can be frozen before frying for convenience. Fry directly from frozen, increasing frying time slightly.
