  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes (fresh or canned)
  • 2 cups beef broth or water with seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Optional: grated cheese, chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Chop the onion and mince the garlic; measure out all ingredients.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
  3. Sauté onions for 3–4 minutes until soft and translucent, then add garlic and cook 1 more minute.
  4. Add ground beef, break it apart, and cook 5–7 minutes until fully browned. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and oregano.
  5. Stir in diced tomatoes and cook for 2–3 minutes.
  6. Add orzo and beef broth; stir and bring to a gentle boil.
  7. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally until orzo is tender.
  8. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  9. Optional: add vegetables or sprinkle grated cheese on top, cover briefly to melt.
  10. Remove from heat, let sit 2 minutes, and serve garnished with parsley.

Notes

Pre-chopped onions or garlic paste can save time.

Substitute beef broth with vegetable broth if desired.
