Sheet pan caramel apples are a simple yet indulgent dessert that combines crisp, fresh apples with rich, buttery caramel. This recipe is perfect for parties, holidays, or a fun family activity, and it’s fully customizable with toppings like nuts, chocolate, or sprinkles. Using just one sheet pan, it’s easy to prepare and cleanup is minimal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium apples, washed and dried
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon corn syrup
  • Optional toppings: chopped nuts, chocolate drizzle, or sprinkles
  • Parchment paper for lining the sheet pan

Instructions

  1. Line a large sheet pan with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Insert wooden sticks into the top of each washed and dried apple.
  3. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt. Stir until butter melts and sugar dissolves completely, about 3–5 minutes.
  4. Reduce heat slightly, add heavy cream, and stir for 3–4 minutes until smooth and slightly thickened. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Holding each apple by the stick, dip into warm caramel, letting excess drip back into the pan.
  6. Add desired toppings immediately while caramel is sticky.
  7. Place coated apples on the prepared sheet pan and let set at room temperature for at least 30 minutes or refrigerate for 15–20 minutes.
  8. Serve once the caramel has fully set.

Notes

Ensure apples are completely dry to help the caramel stick.

Toppings can be customized to taste.

For a salted caramel twist, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the caramel before it sets.
