These Crispy Tortillas made in the air fryer are the perfect quick snack or meal base. Whether you prefer flour or corn, this recipe delivers light, golden crunch with minimal oil and maximum flavor. They’re simple, fast, and endlessly customizable.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium flour or corn tortillas
  • Cooking oil spray (avocado or olive oil spray)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, paprika, or chili powder

Instructions

  1. Choose the Tortillas: Select 4 flour or corn tortillas. For chips, stack and cut into quarters or eighths using a knife or pizza cutter. Leave whole for tostadas.
  2. Apply Oil: Lightly spray both sides of the tortilla pieces with cooking oil spray to help achieve a golden, crispy texture.
  3. Season: Sprinkle salt evenly over the tortillas. Add optional seasonings like garlic powder or paprika for extra flavor.
  4. Preheat Air Fryer: If required by your model, preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Air Fry in Batches: Arrange tortilla pieces in a single layer in the basket. Avoid overlapping. Cook in batches if necessary.
  6. Cook: Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 4–6 minutes, shaking or flipping halfway through for even cooking.
  7. Cool: Once golden and crisp, transfer the tortillas to a plate or cooling rack. Let cool for 1 minute before serving.

Notes

For a sweet version, omit salt and use cinnamon sugar.

Avoid overcrowding in the air fryer to ensure even crisping.

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

These work great for homemade chips, tostadas, and toppings.
