These Crispy Air Fryer Garlic Parmesan Fries are a simple, flavorful side dish made with russet potatoes, savory seasonings, and grated Parmesan. Cooked in the air fryer until golden and crisp, they’re finished with a touch of cheese and herbs. This healthier, no-fry version delivers crunch and flavor without the mess or oil of deep frying.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large russet potatoes, scrubbed (peeled optional)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and cut the potatoes into uniform matchsticks about ¼-inch thick.
  2. Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water and soak for 20–30 minutes to remove excess starch.
  3. Drain and pat the fries thoroughly dry using a kitchen towel or paper towels.
  4. Transfer the dried fries to a large bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and toss well.
  5. Sprinkle in garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Toss again to coat evenly.
  6. If using minced garlic, add it now and mix thoroughly.
  7. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3–5 minutes.
  8. Place fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd—cook in batches if needed.
  9. Air fry for 15–18 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until fries are golden and crisp.
  10. Transfer hot fries to a clean bowl. Immediately sprinkle grated Parmesan on top and toss until well coated.
  11. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For extra garlic flavor, add minced garlic after cooking, just before tossing with Parmesan.

Make sure fries are dry before seasoning to prevent sogginess.

Adjust spices to taste; a pinch of cayenne can add heat.

Serve immediately for best texture.
