Classic Christmas Toffee is a timeless holiday treat combining rich buttery toffee with a smooth chocolate layer and crunchy nuts. Its perfect balance of flavors and textures makes it a favorite for festive gatherings, gifts, and celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped almonds or pecans (toasted optional)
  • Optional: flaky sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
  2. In a heavy saucepan, melt butter with sugar and salt over medium heat. Stir constantly.
  3. Bring mixture to a boil and cook, stirring constantly, until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  4. Remove from heat and quickly stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Pour hot toffee into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  6. Immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over hot toffee. Let soften for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Spread melted chocolate evenly over toffee.
  8. Sprinkle chopped nuts over chocolate and press gently to adhere.
  9. Optionally, sprinkle flaky sea salt on top.
  10. Let toffee cool at room temperature for 2 hours or refrigerate until firm.
  11. Break into pieces and serve or store.

Notes

Use a candy thermometer for best results.

Nuts can be omitted or substituted with your choice.

Work quickly when spreading toffee and chocolate to ensure smooth layers.

Store in airtight container at room temperature or refrigerate.
