These Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Twists are a delightful fusion of soft chocolate chip cookie dough and buttery puff pastry, twisted into golden spirals and dusted with powdered sugar. Perfect for gatherings, afternoon treats, or lunchbox surprises, they’re easy to prepare and endlessly satisfying.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup mini chocolate chips
  • 2 sheets puff pastry (thawed but still cold)
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, cream the softened butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add the egg and vanilla extract. Beat until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Stir in the mini chocolate chips. Set aside.
  6. Lightly flour a clean surface and gently roll out the puff pastry sheets to smooth the folds.
  7. Cut each pastry sheet into even rectangles, about 3 inches wide.
  8. Spread a spoonful of cookie dough onto one pastry rectangle.
  9. Place a second rectangle over the top, press gently to seal.
  10. Slice down the center of the filled rectangle lengthwise to form two strips.
  11. Twist each strip carefully, allowing some dough to show through.
  12. Arrange the twists on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them apart.
  13. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 14–18 minutes, or until puff pastry is golden brown.
  14. Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack.
  15. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Ensure puff pastry stays cold while assembling to help maintain its shape while baking.

Cookie dough may be made up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerated.

For added visual appeal, brush pastry lightly with milk before baking.

These twists are best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated in a low oven.
