  • 1 package pizza dough, store-bought or homemade
  • 1/2 cup pesto sauce, preferably fresh basil
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, whole milk recommended
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, extra virgin for brushing
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning, dried herbs blend

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out your pizza dough into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick.
  3. Spread an even layer of pesto sauce over the entire surface of the rolled-out dough, leaving about half an inch around the edges clear.
  4. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the pesto layer and follow with a light dusting of grated Parmesan cheese.
  5. Starting from one edge, carefully roll up the dough into a tight log shape.
  6. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the rolled dough into equal pieces about 1-2 inches thick and place them cut-side up on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Brush each roll lightly with olive oil and sprinkle them with Italian seasoning.
  8. Pop the rolls in your preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until they’re golden brown and bubbling.
