Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb shrimp, crab meat, or white fish (fresh or frozen, thawed)
  • 1 cup peas
  • 1 cup diced carrots
  • 1 cup corn kernels
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups chicken broth or seafood stock
  • 1 cup milk or cream
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 cups biscuit mix (or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2/3 cup milk (for biscuit dough)

Instructions

  1. Thaw seafood if frozen, pat dry, and cut fish into bite-sized chunks. Set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion and garlic. Cook until softened and fragrant.
  3. Stir in peas, carrots, and corn. Cook for 3–4 minutes until vegetables begin to soften.
  4. Sprinkle flour over the vegetables and stir well. Cook for 1–2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
  5. Slowly whisk in chicken broth or seafood stock. Stir continuously until the mixture thickens.
  6. Add milk or cream. Continue stirring until the sauce coats the back of a spoon.
  7. Fold in shrimp, crab, or fish. Season with salt, pepper, and parsley. Cook for 2–3 minutes, then transfer to a greased baking dish.
  8. In a bowl, mix biscuit mix, baking powder, garlic powder, cheddar cheese, and milk until a soft dough forms.
  9. Drop spoonfuls of biscuit dough over the seafood filling, leaving small gaps for steam to escape.
  10. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 25–30 minutes until biscuits are puffed and golden brown.
  11. Let the dish rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

You can use a seafood mix instead of one type of seafood.

Fresh herbs like thyme or dill can be added for extra flavor.

If using canned crab, drain it well before adding to the filling.
