It combines grated carrots, wholesome flour, and a touch of cheese to make a nutritious and tasty snack your pup will adore. Simple, affordable, and fun to prepare, it’s a recipe that turns treat time into a joyful bonding moment.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup grated carrots
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour (or oat flour for a gluten-free option)
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup shredded low-fat cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ¼ cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Optional: finely chopped spinach, parsley, or zucchini

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Peel and finely grate the carrots, then place them in a bowl.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and baking powder. Stir well.
  4. Add the egg, grated carrots, olive oil, and applesauce to the flour mixture. Mix until the dough begins to form.
  5. Knead the dough gently with your hands until soft and pliable. If too sticky, add more flour; if too dry, add a teaspoon of water.
  6. Place the dough on the prepared baking tray and shape it into a round crust about ½ inch thick. For smaller portions, divide into mini pizzas.
  7. Sprinkle shredded low-fat cheese evenly over the crust. Add optional toppings like spinach or zucchini if desired.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted.
  9. Remove from oven and let cool completely on a wire rack.
  10. Cut into small, bite-sized pieces suitable for your dog’s size before serving.

Notes

Always allow the pizza to cool fully before giving it to your pup.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

For longer storage, freeze the cooled pizza pieces for up to 1 month.
