Chocolate covered strawberries are a timeless treat that combines the sweetness of fresh fruit with the richness of melted chocolate. This recipe is simple, quick, and adaptable, making it perfect for celebrations, parties, or a sweet homemade gift.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, washed and thoroughly dried
  • 1 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
  • ½ cup white chocolate chips (optional, for drizzling)
  • Optional toppings: crushed nuts, shredded coconut, sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Rinse the strawberries gently under cold water, then dry them completely with paper towels. Moisture will prevent the chocolate from sticking, so make sure they are fully dry. Leave the green stems intact for easier dipping.
  2. Place the semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips into a heatproof bowl. Melt them using a double boiler by placing the bowl over a pot of gently simmering water. Stir until the chocolate is smooth. Alternatively, melt in the microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring between each until fully melted.
  3. If using white chocolate for drizzling, melt it in a separate bowl using the same method.
  4. Hold each strawberry by the stem and dip it into the melted chocolate, swirling gently to coat evenly. Let any excess chocolate drip back into the bowl.
  5. Place the dipped strawberries onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. While the chocolate is still wet, decorate with toppings such as nuts, coconut, or sprinkles, if desired. For a drizzled effect, use a spoon or piping bag to drizzle melted white chocolate over the set layer.
  7. Leave the strawberries at room temperature until the chocolate hardens. If you need to speed up the process, place the tray in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
  8. Once the chocolate has set, serve immediately or store in the refrigerator until ready to enjoy.

Notes

Ensure strawberries are completely dry before dipping to prevent the chocolate from seizing.

Do not freeze chocolate covered strawberries, as the fruit becomes watery when thawed.

For best results, prepare and serve them on the same day.
