Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, finely diced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar as an alternative)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 12 square wonton wrappers
  • 1 cup shredded coleslaw mix (cabbage and carrots)
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onions
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional for garnish)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Step 1: In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, honey, vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Add diced chicken and stir until evenly coated. Let it marinate for at least 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  2. Step 2: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken and cook for 6 to 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is tender and golden. Once cooked, set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Step 3: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush both sides of each wonton wrapper with oil and drape them carefully over the bars of an oven rack to form a taco shape. Bake for 5 to 7 minutes, or until golden and crisp. Alternatively, fry them in hot oil for 30 seconds on each side, then drain on paper towels.
  4. Step 4: In a separate bowl, combine coleslaw mix, mayonnaise, lime juice, salt, and pepper. Stir until evenly coated, then set aside. Add chopped green onions for extra flavor.
  5. Step 5: Fill each crispy wonton shell with a spoonful of the cooked chicken. Top with the creamy coleslaw mixture. Sprinkle sesame seeds and extra green onions over the top for garnish. Serve immediately to keep the shells crunchy.

Notes

For a lighter version, bake the wonton shells instead of frying them.

To make the dish spicier, add chili flakes or a drizzle of sriracha sauce to the chicken marinade.

Prepare all components separately and assemble the tacos just before serving for the best texture.

These tacos are perfect for parties, family dinners, or casual appetizers.
