Air fryer hash browns offer a quick, healthy, and crispy alternative to traditional fried hash browns. Using simple ingredients and an air fryer, this recipe creates golden-brown hash browns with minimal oil and maximum flavor. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as a versatile side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium-sized potatoes (Russet or Yukon Gold)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped fresh parsley or chives for garnish

Instructions

  1. Peel the potatoes and grate them using a coarse grater.
  2. Place the grated potatoes in a clean kitchen towel or cheesecloth. Squeeze firmly to remove all excess moisture.
  3. Transfer the dried potatoes to a large bowl. Add olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well to coat evenly.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  5. Spread the seasoned potatoes evenly in the air fryer basket, avoiding overcrowding.
  6. Cook for 15 minutes, flipping the hash browns gently halfway through to ensure even crisping.
  7. Check for golden-brown color and crispiness. Cook a few minutes longer if needed.
  8. Remove from the air fryer and garnish with fresh parsley or chives if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Removing excess moisture from potatoes is key for crispiness.

Avoid overcrowding the basket to ensure proper air circulation.

Customize by adding diced onions, peppers, or chicken ham for extra flavor.
