Air fryer calzones are a delicious, handheld meal that combines a crispy golden crust with a savory filling of turkey bacon, chicken ham, cheese, and fresh vegetables. Quick, versatile, and satisfying, they are perfect for lunches, dinners, or snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • ¾ cup warm water
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup cooked chicken ham, diced
  • ½ cup turkey bacon, cooked and chopped
  • ½ cup diced bell peppers
  • ½ cup sliced mushrooms
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, sugar, and yeast evenly.
  2. Add Wet Ingredients: Make a well, then add warm water and olive oil. Stir until dough forms.
  3. Knead Dough: Knead on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Let Dough Rise: Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise 1–1.5 hours until doubled.
  5. Prepare Fillings: Cook turkey bacon and chop chicken ham. Dice bell peppers and slice mushrooms. Combine all fillings with mozzarella, garlic powder, and oregano.
  6. Divide Dough: Punch down the dough and divide into 6 portions. Roll each into a 6-inch circle.
  7. Assemble Calzones: Place filling on half of each circle. Fold dough over and seal edges, crimping with a fork.
  8. Apply Egg Wash: Brush tops with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  9. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat to 375°F (190°C) for 3–5 minutes.
  10. Cook Calzones: Air fry 2–3 calzones at a time for 12–15 minutes until golden brown, flipping if needed.
  11. Serve: Allow to cool slightly and serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
